Official press release from Her Universe.

NEW FANGIRL APPAREL FOR BATTLESTAR GALACTICA AND WAREHOUSE 13

HER UNIVERSE ANNOUNCES NEW SYFY SUMMER LINE FOR WOMEN

NEW YORK, NY - June 22nd, 2012 - Her Universe, a leader in female genre merchandise, announced today the latest releases in its Syfy branded collection of apparel and accessories for Geek Girls. Featured in the summer line are designs from the hit series, Battlestar Galactica and Warehouse 13.

The new line of Syfy fashion tops will premiere at San Diego Comic Con and online July 11th at www.heruniverse.com. Fans will be able to purchase new BSG designs at the Her Universe Comic-Con booth (2913-F in the Lucasfilm Pavilion) including a new design from well-known artist, Cat Staggs. Cat's design will feature the fan favorite character Kara "Starbuck" Thrace and will feature original art designed specifically for this new v-neck top. Additional designs for BSG and WH-13 will be available at Syfy's Comic-Con headquarters in the Rock Shop at The Hard Rock Hotel, across the street from the San Diego Convention Center.

"As a big Battlestar Galactica and Warehouse 13 fan, I am so excited to introduce new designs," said Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein. "It's also been a pleasure to work with Cat Staggs again. Cat is a fan favorite artist and I feel that she truly captured the essence of Starbuck with this new design."

"I was very excited when Ashley asked me to design this shirt," said artist Cat Staggs. "What I was trying to capture with this design was a balance of Starbuck's strength and fragility, which is something that drew me to her character and I hope others will enjoy that as well."

Her Universe was launched in 2009 by actress and entrepreneur Ashley Eckstein, and her partner, The Araca Group, known as one of the most innovative theatrical production and merchandise companies in the world. Her Universe was created to directly address the expanding market of female fans by entering into its first agreement with Lucas Licensing to develop and produce a line of female-centered Star Wars apparel and accessories. The success of that line was followed up with a collection for the Syfy network including such shows as Battlestar Galactica. Her Universe will be announcing two new major sci-fi licenses this summer. You can learn more about Her Universe and purchase the current line of fangirl apparel and accessories by going to www.heruniverse.com and by following Eckstein on Twitter at Twitter and visiting the Her Universe Facebook page.

Syfy is a media destination for imagination-based entertainment. With year round acclaimed original series, events, blockbuster movies, classic science fiction and fantasy programming, a dynamic Web site (www.Syfy.com), and a portfolio of adjacent business (Syfy Ventures), Syfy is a passport to limitless possibilities. Here is my auction piece for this years inking panel. I chose to color the Jim Lee Batman. This will be auctioned off this weekend.

Phantom Lady!

There are many titles coming out this summer to be excited for. From DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 to BEFORE WATCHMEN to HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, DC Entertainment is publishing a wide variety of the most anticipated releases in the comic book medium. Today, we are pleased to add another new title to that roster: PHANTOM LADY.

Written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti and illustrated by Cat Staggs and Rich Perotta, PHANTOM LADY will star the female Freedom Fighter in the debut of her own 4-part miniseries. And joining her will be her partner-in-crimefighting, the diminutive dynamo known as Doll Man.

“Phantom Lady and Doll Man is an exciting return to the roots of the characters as pulpy, street level crime fighters with a few new twists and some heavy sci-fi overtones,” Justin Gray told THE SOURCE. “We took the best of their original core concepts and updated them with no relation to our previous work on Phantom Lady and Doll Man in the Freedom Fighters. You're getting in on the ground floor of the origin story of two people whose lives intersect and a common threat that transforms them into pretty amazing and engaging superheroes.”

“We are super excited to reconnect with characters we have been so close with over the years, and getting to create something both exciting and visually cool in the process,” continued Jimmy Palmiotti. “With this series, we dig into who Phantom Lady and Doll Man are, how they came to be and how they fit into DC COMICS-THE NEW 52. There is something for everyone here and we are having a blast!”

“I have to say I am really enjoying what Jimmy and Justin have created,” said Cat Staggs. “It is a wonderful take on a classic character. The story itself leans towards a gritty crime noir, which is something I am a huge fan of. Getting to draw this on a daily basis is a dream! I can’t wait for fans to see it!”

“One of the first comic books I ever read as a child was FREEDOM FIGHTERS,” added Rich Perotta. “I am very excited to be a part of this latest project from DC Comics.”

PHANTOM LADY #1, which features the below cover by Amanda Conner, goes on sale August 29th.

SMALLVILLE DAY!!!!

Here is download information that was  posted by Craig from Kryptonsite earlier this week:

DIGITAL:

- On a tablet device or smartphone, you can purchase Smallville Season 11 using either the DC Comics or Comixology apps.

DC Comics iTunes appDC Comics Android app

Comixology iTunes appComixology Android app

Once Friday rolls around, some browsing should make it easy to find the SV Season 11 comic, as well as many other recent great comics.

If you don’t have a tablet or a smartphone, you can still read Smallvilleon your computer at Comixology.com! You’ll have to set up an account, which is free, but beyond there the purchasing will be the same as with the apps – 99 cents per issue.

PRINT:

If you’re like me and would like to have a print copy in your hands, you can go to your local comic book shop on May 2. Most stores put out new comics on Wednesdays. It wouldn’t hurt to tell your local comic book shop owner that you are interested in Smallville so he or she is sure to pre-order it for you. If there are no stores near you, there are some online comic book stores including Midtown Comics and TFAW.com who should be able to meet your needs.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

Do NOT illegally download or torrent the Smallville Season 11 comic book. A project like this relies on legitimate sales to prove itself as a profitable venture for DC Comics. If people aren’t purchasing it legally, the comics will end. At only 99 cents, there is really no excuse NOT to pay for them, and big sales will tell DC “hey, we want this stuff!” and it would hopefully mean we’ll have many, many more Smallville comics to come.

If you’re new to comics, this might be a lot of fun for you, as you’re entering Superman’s world right as Superman – who we knew as Clark Kent for so long – begins on a new and exciting journey!

Smallville Season 11 coming April 13th!

Bryan Q. Miller breaks down how to purchase your copy of Smallville Season 11.  I could not have said it better (which is why he is the writer and I draw pictures). Please read the blog posted below.

________________________________________________________________

so how do i buy the smallville season 11 comic?

BRYAN Q. MILLER

We're 2 weeks out from the first installment of the Smallville Season 11 premiere, "Guardian," going on-line. If you aren't waiting for the printed version (which becomes avail. May 2), you may be wondering how/where you can find the digi-comic.

If you have a tablet device or smartphone, you'll need to download the free DC Comics (iTunes / Android) or Comixology apps (iTunes / Android). If you're new to these apps, the DC app (quite naturally), gives you access to select DC comics past and present for a per issue fee. The Comixology app is more of a catch-all, multi-publisher hub (DC, Marvel, Image, etc.), where you'll be able to purchase installments of Season 11, as well as MANY other things.

If you don't have a tablet or smartphone, fear not! You can still read the Smallville comic online by visiting comixology.com and opening an account (again, free to sign up, followed by a per issue purchase fee). You will have to enter credit card information at some point, much as you would have to for iTunes. This goes for the app, as well -- it will not auto-purchase each week's issue for you. You will have to stop by the site/open the app every Friday and make the purchase.

In print, you'll need to locate/contact your local comic shop (LCS). New comics always become available (or "street") on Wednesdays. The print editions of Season 11 should be available towards the beginning of of each month (shipping date released when a given month's "solicits" are released online and in Previews magazine), but stock will vary from store to store. Plan ahead! If you don't have an LCS and wish to read in print, shop around online and see where you can pre-order (tfaw.com and Midtown Comics jump to mind as good places to start).

I cannot stress enough how vital it is that everyone legitimately pay for this book. For projects like this, sales are super-important. Please do NOT grab torrents. It's just a dollar a week. If you can't afford that, save your pennies until you can and avoid spoilers. Piracy is wrong. It just is.

Thanks, Gang! Hope you like it ________________________________________________________________

Smallville Fans Rejoice! New Comic Book Series, SMALLVILLE SEASON 11, to Pick Up Where Show Left Off

Fans of the smash-hit TV series Smallville haven’t had much to cheer about since the show ended its critically acclaimed 10-year run on The CW last May. That’s all going to change with the upcoming new comic book series from DC Entertainment: SMALLVILLE SEASON 11. Written by former Smallville show scribe Bryan Q. Miller, the new digital first series will be published digitally on April 13, 2012, with new digital chapters released weekly thereafter. Additionally, the online chapters will be offered in a print periodical, along with an episode guide to the hit television series, with the first print issue released on May 16.

The new comic book series picks-up where the show left off (with Clark officially now as Superman!) and features other fan-favorite characters including Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Chloe Sullivan-Queen, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and General Lane. The book features an all-star creative team – in addition to Miller, SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 creators include print cover artist Gary Frank (SUPERMAN SECRET ORIGIN), digital cover artist Cat Staggs and interiors by Pere Perez (BATGIRL).

“Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips… enter Season 11!” enthuses Miller. “New allies abound! New enemies afoot! And old friends return where they’re least expected! Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers. I couldn’t be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark’s first year in the cape.”
